Nevada Spirit

Nevada Spirit is a new project following my role as guitarist/composer in the band Neva. It's the continuation of a beautiful journey that lasted over 20 years.

Having visited Nevada several times, particularly Death Valley, which has always fascinated and inspired me, I created this album featuring 11 tracks.

“When You Move” is a powerful and evocative album, inspired by the grandeur of American landscapes, spanning mountains and deserts. Designed as a true musical odyssey, this album transports the listener to the heart of the vast spaces of the West, where endless roads, deep canyons, and national forest lands stretch out.

From the first notes, the saturated guitars and raw rhythms capture the essence of this adventure, evoking both the beauty and the vastness of the plains and valleys. “When You Move” draws from classic American rock, with riffs and vocal harmonies reminiscent of great bands from the ’70s, while adding a contemporary, almost cinematic intensity. The production is polished but unfussy, retaining a ruggedness that reflects the rocky, dusty landscapes.

The album's sound varies between melodic ballads and more energetic tracks, embodying the contrasts of vast landscapes: scorching days under a burning sun and mysterious dusk where the air cools. The listener is caught in a whirlwind of guitars, sometimes unleashed like a storm on the road, sometimes subtler, like a breeze over the hills.

Through its eleven tracks, “When You Move” is more than a rock album; it's an invitation to journey, to discover unexplored lands, and to savor the raw pleasure of freedom.

I would like to thank lyricists Laurie Fromont and Christophe Binet, Eric Angelats, who lent his voice on a few tracks, and my longtime collaborator Olivier Clément for his guitar work on “Sam.”

This album has two distinctive aspects. Some tracks were composed in 2017/2018, and Eric recorded vocal guides, but unfortunately, he passed too soon to record the final vocals. After his passing, it was difficult for me to revisit these 7-8 tracks that we had worked on together. I only reopened them recently and finally completed the album.

The second distinctive aspect is somewhat innovative. I needed a vocalist to replace or create some parts, and, as I couldn’t find a voice that suited the project, I used AI vocal technology from the company “Sonarworks” to fill this gap. I sang the lead vocals myself but intentionally altered my voice using this AI.

There will be a follow-up to Nevada Spirit.
